Wiki Assignment - 8th May, 2011
This is a test blog as I want to ensure subsequent blog posts will appear in my Wiki! I hope my previous blogs didn't come across as entirely negative as, despite my concerns about some aspects of this unit, I have still had a positive experience (overall). While making my Wiki has been stressful at times (a tutorial in the compter lab explaining roughly how to do it would have been very helpful!) I have learnt a lot. I am pretty pleased with how mine has turned out!! It has been a really cool assignment and I am a wiki fan now - I shall look forward to setting up one for real with my classes in the future!

PDH Tutorial - 6 April, 2011
An awful lot was crammed into today's tutorial! After a 10 minute brief about some of the modified athletics equipment available to use in schools today (with barely enough time to try each piece), as a group we tied ourselves in knots and tried some simple 'dances' we could teach our future students. I was only familiar with half of them (and a long time since I've had to do the 'chicken dance'...), then it was on to teaching sex education....Ended up being a class discussion and picked our tutor's brain, perhaps not what we were supposed to be doing but far more helpful....Am frustrated with this unit and feel unprepared to actually 'teach' PDHPE...
PE Tutorial - 9 March, 2011
Two hours of invasion games on the oval today. It was ok for the students who are familar with OzTag and the like but frustrating for those of us that are not. While fun in some ways I feel I need guidance about which games to play with each age group and how to go about this. Also need more specific information about rules of the games and appropriate ways to modify them. I avoided PE when I was at school and can now see that I missed out in many respects, and how it is vital for children to learn these skills while they are young or some will never get the opportunity to learn them...like me...
